Find the best flights
Find your balance between price and simplicity
Money vs Time
Quite often, the flights are the largest expense on a vacation. With that, it is important that you find the best flight for your travels even if it might not be the cheapest. Most of the time, it comes down to the best ratio between time spent in transit, and money spent on transit.
Where to Start
When I initially begin looking into a vacation, I first check the flights. This is because flights can make or break your trip. My favorite place to start is Google Explore. Google Explore is a service offered within Google Travel that will search flights from any starting location to anywhere in the world.
Google Explore is perfect for you if you have flexibility in the dates that you travel or if you are flexible on where you travel. Just like most flight scanning websites, you can also place restrictions on layovers, duration, checked bags, and other preferences. Keep in mind that these preferences may change the price of the ticket.
Shown in my example is Google Explore looking for travel options out of New York’s JFK airport. I have JFK in the departure tab, however I could change it to search from New York City in general. This is great for cities with multiple airports. In the case of New York City, it would search flights out of New York (JFK), Newark (EWR), LaGuardia (LGA), and Stewart (SWF).
